LOS ANGELES--(BW HealthWire)--May 29, 2002--Hundreds of walkers from around Southern California will "get on their feet" with Mimi Kennedy, co-star of TV's "Dharma & Greg," at the 2nd annual "A Walk in the Park: On Your Feet to Defeat AS" on June 9, 2002, at beautiful Lake Balboa in Van Nuys. The event is being held to help create awareness of a debilitating disease that affects nearly one million Americans, ankylosing spondylitis or simply AS.

Ms. Kennedy, known for her philanthropic contributions to the community, has been involved with the Spondylitis Association of America (SAA) for many years. "AS is a painful and progressive form of spinal arthritis that generally attacks young people in the prime of their life, and which can cause permanent disability in severe cases," said Ms. Kennedy.

Registration for the walk begins at 8:00 a.m., with the walk scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. The price for adults is $15 and includes continental breakfast and souvenir t-shirt. Registration for children 12 and under is just $5.
