A recently published paper written by SAA Medical Board member, John Davis, M.D., outlines the role of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in ankylosing spondylitis as well as how the biologic medications (specifically enbrel and remicade) that are TNF-inhibitors work to treat AS.
The article also contains an informed, referenced overview of spondylitis.
In the paper, Dr. Davis states, "Understanding the role of TNF inhibitors in AS has led to new therapies that offer improved function and less disability for many patients suffering from this disease."
