Remicade Approved For Use In Treating
Juvenile Crohn's Disease

Centocor has announced that the FDA approved their biologic medication, Remicade, for use in treating Crohn's Disease in children. According to their press release, this makes Remicade, "the first and only biologic therapy approved for the treatment of pediatric Crohn's disease, a debilitating condition that causes inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, typically resulting in symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, weight loss and, in some sufferers, delayed development and stunted growth."

As many people with spondylitis know, problems of the GI tract are not uncommon in ankylosing spondylitis and related diseases. The presence of Crohn's Disease or ulcerative colitis can sometimes assist a doctor in diagnosing a patient with AS when taking other symptoms into account: AS Diagnosis
