Spondylitis News From Around The Web

Going back to a story we ran in 2005 entitled, "Body Weight and Composition Changes During TNF Therapy for Spondylitis",
Reuters reports that a new article in The Journal of Rheumatology has also linked treatment of the TNF-a inhibitors to changes of body composition.
The story reports that, "Patients experienced significant increases in body weight, fat mass, and lean mass after 1 year and 2 years of anti-TNF treatment, the authors report. Results were similar for men and women."

Rheumatology News has two more stories regarding AS. The first is "Imaging and HLA-B27 Status Predict AS", which reports "Patients with back pain who are HLA-B27 positive with severe sacroiliitis on MRI are at high risk of progression to ankylosing spondylitis."
Delays in diagnosis have been a long established problem in spondylitis.
The next story, "Real-World Anti-TNF Therapy Benefits Seen in AS", discusses the continued evidence of people with AS improving with TNF-a therapy. This story can be read by clicking here.
