Health Reforms Take Effect This Month!

Posted on: 9/15/2010

A number of new provisions in the recently passed health care law take effect Thursday, September 23-several that could help people living with spondylitis:

  • Young adults will be allowed to stay on their parents' plan until they turn 26 years old.
  • Once you are insured, your health insurance company will not be able to take away your coverage.
  • Consumers will have a new way to appeal insurance company decisions.
  • Insurance companies can no longer put lifetime limits on essential benefit coverage, and there will be new rules about annual benefit limits.
  • Insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage to children due to pre-existing conditions.
  • All new plans must cover certain preventive services without charging a deductible, co-pay or coinsurance.
Find out more information about these and other changes taking effect in September at www.healthcare.gov.
