SAA would like to join the US Department of Health and Human Services in saluting Emergency Medical Service Professionals during National EMS week.
From the HHS press release, "The around-the-clock dedication to providing emergency care is evident with one statistic: more than 36 million patients were cared for by EMS professionals in 2011 alone." To read the full press release, click here. We thank all EMS professionals for the critical and life-saving work they do every day.
We here at SAA are proud of the partnerships we've developed with many EMS professionals throughout the country. In cooperation with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, we developed the first ever training program to educate First Responders about spondylitis.
Our program, "Ankylosing Spondylitis: Managing Patients in an Emergency Setting, A Primer for First Responders" provides the training to ensure that all emergency first responders, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and fire and police safety personnel can learn the proper and safe techniques in the care and handling of individuals with spondylitis.
Over 1,000 copies of the program on DVD have been distributed to Fire Chiefs, EMS/EMT Conferences and local fire and rescue stations all over the nation from California to Arkansas to New York. A special Thank You to them for taking the time to learn about spondylitis and how to treat spondylitis patients in the field.
