The man behind "Swimtrek for Spondylitis" is Joel Stratte-McClure, an American journalist/adventurer whose articles on a variety of subjects have appeared in The International Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, The London Times, People Magazine, Who Weekly, Fast Thinking and numerous other publications.
On August 30th, 2011, Joel and his compatriots will be swimming 4 1/2 kilometers in the Hellespont swim (click here for information) across the Mediterranean, and we hope you will support him in this endeavor by making a donation to SAA per kilometer of his aquatic adventure!
Joel has also written a book entitled, "The Idiot and the Odyssey: Walking the Mediterranean”, and he has graciously promised to donate $3.50 of each book sold in August to SAA. 100% of donations will go to the SAA.
