FOUR STARS! Spondylitis Association of America Does it Again in 2019!

The Spondylitis Association of America (SAA) has been awarded a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, America's premier evaluator of nonprofit organizations. The rating is Charity Navigator's highest and most prestigious, signifying that SAA outperforms most other charities in America in its efforts to efficiently manage its finances (your donations).

Charity Navigator was founded to give donors the type of information they need to be more discriminating about the charities they choose to support. The organization provides the data needed to evaluate accountability, transparency, and quantifiable results. SAA was rated tops in all categories. 

This "exceptional" rating from Charity Navigator differentiates SAA from its peers and demonstrates to our members, donors, and friends that the organization is worthy of the trust they have shown us.

SAA receives no government funding and relies on the generous donations from individuals to create and maintain the programs and services aimed at improving the futures of the 2.7 million Americans affected by spondylitis.

SAA Wins "Best of Medical Nonprofit Sites" Award

The Spondylitis Association of America's website,, was honored by Pacific Medical Training (PMT) in 2014 with their "Best of Medical Nonprofit Sites" Award.

PMT states that "we understand the amount of work and dedication it takes to keep quality and relevant information easily accessible for viewers. Every year we select 10 of our favorite websites for special mention and promotion on our site."

SAA Is a GuideStar Exchange Gold Participant

The Spondylitis Association of America (SAA) is pleased to announce that we've achieved the GuideStar Exchange Gold Star participation level, a leading symbol of transparency and accountability provided by GuideStar USA, Inc., the premier source of nonprofit information.

This level demonstrates SAA's deep commitment to nonprofit transparency and accountability, as we share a wealth of up-to-date information about our work with our constituents and supporters and with GuideStar's online audience of nonprofits, grant-makers, individual donors, and the media.

In order to be awarded the GuideStar Exchange Gold logo, SAA had to complete every field on the nonprofit report page on, providing a comprehensive look at our organization, from mission and goals to community programs.

SAA Is One of America's Top 10 Charities

In 2011, posted a story on the top 10 ranked charities in all of America. The Spondylitis Association of America (SAA) was ranked 9th overall in the U.S. writer Greg Emerson says of SAA, "With revenue of just over $1.2 million last year (none of which came from the government,) the California-based organization might not be able to dispense funds to all sufferers, but the informational materials it provides, in addition to the direct assistance to patients, multiply its reach significantly for a disease that is rarely fatal but can have important consequences for patients' mobility and quality of life."

SAA Recognized as a "Best Charity in America"

The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. These standards include those required by the U.S. Government for inclusion in the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the world. Of the 1 million charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000 -- or 5 percent -- meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
