My name is Summer Canady, I was diagnosed in 2016 with Ankylosing Spondylitis but I have had symptoms since I was 16 years old. I am now 35 and recently engaged. I love hiking because it pushes me to challenge myself and reminds me I have the strength to beat this. AS doesn't rule my life!
I am a mother of three and I work full time while enjoying as much of life as I can. This past year I have dedicated my time to becoming an advocate for the Spondylitis community. I look forward to building in all areas and bringing not only awareness but hopefully the courage and support for others to Kick Some AS too!
Although I am on medication, my symptoms are not currently controlled and I have been experiencing a whole new onset of symptoms this past year. I hope to bring fun and exciting ways for us to connect and raise awareness while supporting each other along the way. #KickSomeAS
Starting a spondylitis support group can be a fulfilling and rewarding challenge. The knowledgeable volunteers who lead SAA-Sponsored Spondylitis Educational Support Groups play a vital role by providing a forum for those with spondylitis to connect and offer support.
