I grew up in Orlando all of my life. I love this city and I love waking up every day even with Ankylosing Spondylitis. What started out as a baseball S.I. joint injury turned into a lower back injury and that would not heal no matter what I did. Assuming something was wrong, I went to a rheumatologist and I was diagnosed less than a year ago with AS and I had a myriad of tests run on me...MRI, X-rays, Blood analysis. They all confirmed the diagnosis.
As of Today, I exercise almost every day in one way or another, I eat clean, and I take a few supplements to help with the pain. But I realize everyone's path and illness manifests in different ways. That's why I'm interested in teaming up with SAA and starting up a support group so those of us battling this have a safe place to connect with others and learn what works for each of us. Many heads can be better than one.
In my personal life, I am a voracious reader, I enjoy writing, working out, watching sports, developing websites, and I love learning current health sciences.
Starting a spondylitis support group can be a fulfilling and rewarding challenge. The knowledgeable volunteers who lead SAA-Sponsored Spondylitis Educational Support Groups play a vital role by providing a forum for those with spondylitis to connect and offer support. Interested in taking on this role?
