This AS Life Live!

This AS Life Live! is the first interactive online talk show for people with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) by people with AS.

The program is a collaboration between the Spondylitis Association of America, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, and Dan Reynolds.

The goal of the series, hosted by Dan Reynolds, AS patient and lead singer of the Grammy award-winning rock band Imagine Dragons, is to inspire and encourage people to live their best lives with AS and to raise awareness of AS. Imagine Dragons has a large USA and international fan base with extensive tours, TV appearances, awards and hits including Radioactive, Demons, Believer and Thunder

With just the first 3 video interviews released in 2017, This AS Life Live! has reached over 500 million people on social media, and through print, broadcast, and online news coverage.

"Each person's story is unique. As we release more and more of these interviews, I hope that everyone living with AS will find something they can relate to and find value in watching and sharing. Dan has truly been wonderful throughout the series. He is friendly, thoughtful, empathetic, candid, lighthearted, just real." Rich Howard

SAA receives no government funding and relies on the generous donations from individuals to create and maintain the programs and services aimed at improving the futures of the 2.7 million Americans affected by spondylitis.

This AS Life Live! Season 2: BONUS

By Dan Reynolds

Thursday, October 04, 2018

In this short bonus video, we turn the camera around and interview the face of the This AS Life Live! series, Dan Reynolds. Dan shares what it's like living with AS while on tour.

Video Transcript

Richard: You know, I feel like I'm a busy person sometimes, and then I think of your schedule. You know, traveling the world, and all of the responsibility that people are depending on you.

Richard: One thing I'd like to know is how the series has affected you personally.

Dan: That is the hardest part of my life. When I'm in the midst of a tour, 'cause I am right now, in the middle of a world tour, hundreds of shows all around the world - South America, we're going to Australia, New Zealand, we're going to Europe, North America. Knowing I'm going to have flares during that, knowing there are going to be a lot of people who travel and make plans and pay for plane flights and things like that, that I feel that pressure every single day of my life.

It’s a balance. And you have, you know, nutrition, and you have your, you know, you’re meeting with your rheumatologist, and you're setting up your plan with your rheumatologist, and you have, you know, your exercise regimen, you have your stress level, and you have to, all these things. It's a balancing act.

But when it's game time, when the people are investing their time in it, you can bet that I'm going to do every single thing that I can to make sure that I can put on the best version of a show.
